A Great Weekend

The past weekend was awesome. I guess it really began on Thursday. On Thursday night the 4th grade at USJ gave their performance on "I Need A Vacation". They did a great job. Abby had a small part as a camp secretary. She was beautiful and did a fantastic job. On Friday night, the soccer club had their annual Family Night and Auction. It's a great time for all the teams and families to get together and raise money for the club. We had great Italian food and some great fellowship. We were able to raise over $2000 for the club and we were able to get Abby a private lesson with Musaf Manney. Musaf is from Ethiopia and played soccer on Bethel College's national championship team. Musaf coaches our U13 girls team I believe. He also coaches the speed and agility training. All the kids like him a lot.

On Saturday, we had our first annual Soccer Spring Invitational. This is a one day event of "friendlies". Friendlies are individual games that are played, but not in the normal tournament setting. We had several teams for three states come in. The girls played great again and won all three of their games against the Memphis Cougars (6-1), TN United (8-1), and the Western Kentucky Futbol club (5-2). The girls have won seven straight games now and are 8-1 since their winter break. And Grammy and Grampy came up and saw the first two games. Abby was so happy they came. Between games, we went to the Craker Barrell for a late breakfast. Of course, Abby chose to eat with her friends instead of her family. I guess we should get used to that. In two weeks we head off to Nashville for the Music City Invitational. Can't wait.

And on Sunday, LeAnn and I went to the Orpheum and saw the musical, "The Color Purple". It was a great show and was very moving. It was interesting to see how they transferred the story into a musical. So as you can see, it was a long and full weekend. But a lot of fun.
